SEPTEMBER 2026: Midnight

Monsters and Mayhem: Inside the Marvel Midnight Universe
In October 2026, Marvel Comics will officially launch the Marvel Midnight Universe, a dark alternate timeline focusing entirely on supernatural horror. Specifically, this brutal new publishing line is written by mastermind Jonathan Hickman with haunting art by Matteo Della Fonte. Because of its mature themes, the entire imprint carries an explicit Parental Advisory rating. The overarching story takes place in a gothic New York City where monstrous factions fight fiercely for territory. Consequently, normal humans, known as “the unturned,” are trapped in the deadly crossfire. In this terrifying reality, traditional superheroes act as lethal predators instead of protectors.

The Three Interconnected Launch Titles
The Marvel Midnight Universe debuts with three distinct, intertwined comic book series:
  • Midnight X-Men: This book details a fragile peace treaty between a wealthy vampire aristocracy and powerful mutant empyres, featuring a menacing, vampiric Storm.
  • Midnight Spider-Man: In addition, this title completely removes Peter Parker’s typical lighthearted persona. Instead, it places him inside a claustrophobic psychological horror story.
  • Midnight Fantastic Four: Finally, this series shifts away from traditional science fiction. It replaces cosmic exploration with disturbing body horror and supernatural elements.

Release Date and Variant Cover Details
The first highly anticipated issues will go on sale on October 7, 2026, with a standard retail price of $5.99. Moreover, Marvel has commissioned special variant covers from legendary horror artists Peach Momoko and Junji Ito to perfectly complement the dark aesthetic.
Ultimately, this imprint serves as a major creator-driven alternative to mainstream Marvel continuity. Therefore, the Marvel Midnight Universe offers a fresh, terrifying playground for comic book fans looking for a genuinely mature reading experience.
